Getting a Professional Cycle Mechanics Qualification has just got easier - Cycle Training UK has re-vamped its City & Guilds Mechanics courses to make getting a professional qualification more accessible
Around the country, getting a professional qualification in cycle mechanics generally costs over £1,000. So Cycle Training UK (CTUK) has revamped their City & Guilds courses to enable candidates to get a relevant, internationally recognised qualification in Cycle Mechanics for just £650.
As part of a major overhaul of its Cycle Mechanics Programme, CTUK has created a five day City & Guilds Level 1+ course. All the modules of the course can be completed using everyday cycling tools. Candidates will cover the range of modern mainstream cycle components, from cable operated rim & disc brakes and derailleur systems through to loose & cartridge hub bearings and Bottom Brackets (old ‘cup & ball’ to modern press-fit). The course concludes with a Systematic Bike Check. This is still a professional level course so candidates will also be instructed in working in a cycle maintenance environment, appropriate Health & Safety Regulations, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the correct disposal of waste.
All CTUK’s City & Guilds courses are led by a qualified and experienced Assessor and delivered in their fully equipped workshop. To maximise the learning experience, CTUK only teaches in small groups with no more than four candidates.
Everything is provided to help candidates to successful achieve their professional qualification including Park Tool’s Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair along with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee & biscuits!
The City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Cycle Mechanics is ideal for:
Once candidates have successfully completed the Level 1+ course they can progress to the Level 2 Certificate that includes Wheel Building, Frame Preparation (chasing & facing) and Headset Servicing. The Level 2 course is a one week course and costs £550.
