City & Guilds

Cycle Training UK is a City and Guilds Approved Centre. We deliver City & Guilds Certificate in Cycle Mechanics to employees, the public and in schools. Entry Level and Level 1 is suitable for schools while Level 2 will suit you if you have prior relevant knowledge and understanding of cycle mechanics.

Cycle Training UK offers a series of City and Guilds courses for private individuals/employees at our workshop in London SE16. 

Day 1: Induction and workshop rules, Health & Safety
British & European Standards for Bicycles. Repair a cycle puncture (rear wheel derailleur equipped bike).
Day 2: Remove and replace a cycle rim brake assembly ( V-brakes, canti and dual pivot and includes replacing cables) also cover basic set up of cable operated disc brakes and hydro disc brakes (but this is not assessed).
Day 3: Remove and replace a cycle gear systems (includes mechs, chain cassette/freewheel, chain set, cables and shifters.
Day 4: Remove and replace cycle hub bearings (loose and cartridge bearings).
Service cycle headset assemblies.
Day 5: Remove and replace cycle bottom brackets and cranks (adjustable, cartridge and external).
Day 6: Frame preparation (include chasing bb, facing bb, reaming head tube, facing head tube, facing fork crown, crown race fitting, headset removal and fitting, frame alignment).
Day 7: Build a cycle wheel (teach theory and practice)
Day 8: Build a cycle wheel (recap theory, practice then assessment)
Day 9: Augment a cycle (fit accessories, carry out a systematic cycle check
Day 10: Change a cycle frame (strip a bike to its bare frame and then rebuild)

The Course runs 2 days a week over 5 weeks (Thursday & Friday) from 09.30-17.30

January/February: 15th,16th,22nd,23rd,29th,30th,5th,6th,12th,13th.

February/March: 19th,20th,26th,27th,5th,6th,12th,13th,19th,20th.

COST: £1,000 per person.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to change or cancel your attendance on a course, please give us at least 2 weeks notice. Cancellations or any changes within 2 weeks of a course will forfeit 50% of the total cost, within 1 week 100% of the total cost.

Cycle Training UK reserves the right to cancel or postpone a training class. If the training class is cancelled, the customer is entitled to a full refund.

We also offer City and Guilds training in mainstream secondary schools, Pupil Referral Units and for youth groups. Our courses are bespoke, tailored to the needs and requirements of a particular school. The training takes place within the school (i.e. many schools create their own bicycle maintenance workshop).
